Questions About Carpet? Trust the Kansas City Flooring Experts for Answers!
Buying new carpet can be an overwhelming process. With so many textures, styles and brands, it’s hard to know what type of carpet will work best in your Kansas City home. Listed below are some of our most frequently asked questions, along with our answers. Enjoy our Carpet FAQ and please contact us if you have any additional questions.
Q: How does carpet help with my energy bill in the winter?
A: Carpet provides real thermal resistance (or R-value) just like insulation products in your walls and attic. During the colder months (or in regions with cold climates), wall-to-wall carpet will actually retain warm air longer. This is an energy conservation benefit. Additionally, carpet also provides a comfortable place to sit, play or work and gives each carpeted room an overall warmer feeling for the family.
Q: Do I have to buy bold flooring colors to make a statement?
A: No. You can choose from many thousands of carpet styles, textures and colors. Your ultimate choice will reflect how you wish to personalize your unique living space. Your carpet can be a completely neutral foundation for your décor, or (as with area rugs) a carpet can be a focal point of vibrant color, a bold pattern or a unique texture.
Q: How does a flooring product reduce noise in the house?
A: Obviously, carpet on your stairs will help deaden the sound of foot traffic, but there’s a greater benefit to be found. Big-screen TVs, speaker phones, computers and sound systems tend to make our home a noisy place. As a sound barrier between floors, carpet will absolutely help to absorb these ambient sounds. Adding a cushion pad beneath your carpet reduces noise even further.
Q: How does carpet improve my indoor air quality?
A: Carpet does have a positive effect on your indoor air quality. Since gravity causes common household air particles (such as dust, pollen and pet and insect dander) to fall to the floor, carpet fibers will naturally trap these offending particles and reducing their circulation in the air. Proper (and regular) carpet cleaning with a CRI-approved vacuum will effectively remove these dust and allergen particles from the carpet, lock them in the machine and help keep them out of the air we breathe.
Q: How should I prepare for installation?
A: Your Windows Floors & Decor professional installation team will guide you through the installation process. But it is a safe bet to remove all breakable items from area being carpeted and (including hanging mirrors, portraits and other framed objects), detach and store wiring from TVs, stereos, VCR/DVD and computers.
